Grab your sketchbooks and be part of this fun drawing workshop that will feature 6 to 8 quick sketching exercises designed to help build observation skills and confidence. Some of the exercises will have a New Mexico flair to them (an adobe wall and window sketch, a chile pepper still life) and will give participants a chance to practice sketch construction, shading, cross-hatching and more in a relaxed, no pressure setting. The workshop is open to participants of all skill levels 12 years old to adult. Participants should bring their favorite sketchbook(s) and drawing tools. Don’t have a sketchbook yet? No problem. Drawing materials (pens, colored pencils, markers and drawing paper) will be available at the class.
Sketchbook art should be a mix of fun, creativity, experimentation and surprise. Whether you draw daily or occasionally, your sketchbook art becomes a recorded history of progress, struggles and achievements. With work and time drafts will emerge that can lead to more polished works or stand-alone pieces that can, and should be, shared with friends and family.
