College Essay Writing Drop-In Clinic
College application season is just around the corner. Are you struggling to figure out how to write a compelling story about who you are? Unsure of what college admissions officers are looking for in a personal statement? Want another sympathetic set of eyes?
Shannon Chamberlain is a local former professor, grant writer, and author, and admissions committee member, and Shannon wants to help you get a grip on the often scary and anxiety-producing process of college admissions. Writing is hard, and writing about yourself is even harder, but when you master the skills of personal narrative and storytelling, you gain confidence and skills that will carry you through this process and beyond. In this free workshop and clinic, you’ll hear about the general principles and best practices of personal statement writing and have an opportunity to share your writing with me and the group to get specific advice on what you need to do to take your college application to the next level. All are welcome, whether you’re a senior scrambling to get your application in this year or a sophomore or junior thinking ahead to the next.
If you’re interested in sharing your essay with the group, please either bring at least five printed copies or an electronic device that can send your essay to other phones.
