Event Details

Santa Fe musician and author Bird Thompson will perform original songs with special guests in this live acoustic performance.

Bird Thompson is a local musician, writer and DJ. Bird first saw the light of day in Pennsylvania in 1944, but turned 10 years old in Florida. He dropped out of MIT in 1965, thinking that something was missing. Science was great, but wasn’t the full human story. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a BA in English literature in 1967, and upon returning to Boston was swept up in the anti-war, hippie movement. He started writing songs & travelled throughout the US. In 1975, he began practicing Tibetan Buddhist meditation. Having lived in Santa Fe since 1982, Bird has contributed widely to the local arts community. In 2007, he recorded a CD of original songs, Now Hear This, and published his first work of non-fiction in 2011, Extreme Times: Diary of an Eco-Buddhist.

You can hear Bird’s blues-inspired radio show every Thursday on KSFR, Santa Fe Public Radio, 101.1FM.
