Have you ever wanted to try your hand at sketching a one or two panel gag cartoon? Do you have some ideas or drafts of cartoons but need to work on a punch line? If so, this beginning level class is a good place to have some fun and get motivated. The class will start with sketching some basic cartoon faces and bodies then move to creating a simple scene in which to place the character(s). Then, we’ll look at different strategies for creating an effective punch line for the cartoon. We’ll also delve a bit into the world of caricature and how some well-known cartoonists use caricatures in their daily and weekly cartoon strips. No experience needed, for ages 12 to adult. Some basic supplies will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their favorite sketchbooks, pens and pencils.
No registration necessary! Ages 12 to Adult.
