2024 SANTA FE READS - MYTH WRITING CONTEST

 

Awards Presentation

A special awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 7th at 6PM at the Southside Library. Winners and Honorable Mentions will have the opportunity to read their entries aloud, as well as meet and mingle with their fellow writers. Open to the public – so bring your friends and family!

2024 SANTA FE READS - MYTH WRITING CONTEST

As part of the 2024 Santa Fe Reads celebrations, the Santa Fe Public Library is hosting  a writing contest! All entries must either relate to or include some elements of Greek Mythology. Reimagine an existing myth; feature an established god, goddess, creature, or mythic figure; write an epic poem; or critically engage with a specific story or character from ancient Greek folklore.

 

Each winner will receive $100! Honorable mentions will receive wonderful local gift certificates!

 

FOUR AWARD CATEGORIES 

Best Non-Fiction Work Award

Best Short Story or Creative Work Award

Best Poem or Play Award

Best Young Writer Award (must be under 18)

 

Eligibility: Open to all Santa Fe residents, teens (ages 13-18) and adults (ages 19+).

Requirements: Only one entry per person. All entries must be 2,000 words or less, must be typed (not handwritten), and must have been created within the past year. Entries can be in English or Spanish.

Deadline: Entries will be accepted between March 15th – April 30th, 2024. Email your submission to library@santafenm.gov with your full name, phone number, and age category (teen or adult) or as a printed copy submitted to SFPL staff (forwarded to Programs Manager Jessica Gulliford).
