An intimate recital with Tomás Lozano.

Each poem of José Emilio Pacheco is read out loud in English first and then played and sung in its original language, Spanish.

The Cervantes Institute of Chicago commissioned Tomás Lozano at the end of 2021 to compose a musical program based on the poetry of José Emilio Pacheco for the inauguration of the library that bears his name and which opened on May 10, 2022. So this Spanish musician, singer and composer focused on selecting a handful of poems spanning different stages of the poetic trajectory of the Mexican poet and writer’s extensive oeuvre in order to set them to music and transform the poem into song.

On May 10, 2022, part of the poetic musical repertoire was premiered as part of the inaugural events of the José Emilio Pacheco Library. Cervantes Prize 2009. The declaimer, Rima Montoya, read aloud each poem translated into English by herself, before Tomás Lozano sang them in their original language.

El Instituto Cervantes de Chicago le encargó a Tomás Lozano a finales de 2021 componer un programa musical basado en la poesía de José Emilio Pacheco para la inauguración de la biblioteca que lleva su nombre y que se inauguró el 10 de mayo de 2022. Así que este músico, cantante y compositor español se centró en seleccionar un puñado de poemas que abarcan diferentes etapas de la trayectoria poética de la extensa obra del poeta y escritor mexicano con el fin de musicalizarlos y transformar el poema en canto. 

El 10 de mayo de 2022 se estrenó parte del repertorio musical poético como parte de los eventos inaugurales de la Biblioteca José Emilio Pacheco. Premio Cervantes 2009. La declamadora, Rima Montoya, leyó en voz alta cada poema traducido al inglés por ella misma, antes de que Tomás Lozano los cantara en su lengua original.
