Discover the ancient art of Ukrainian egg decorating!

Join renowned Ukrainian artist Yevheniia Bazaliy for a unique workshop exploring the rich tradition of Pysanky. During this immersive experience, you’ll learn about the history and symbolism behind these intricately decorated eggs and delve into regional ornamental designs.

Workshop Highlights

Engaging Presentation: Gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of Pysanky and their connection to Ukrainian heritage.

Hands-on Experience: Learn the wax-resist technique to create your own beautiful Pysanky using a dark egg.

All Materials Provided: Everything you need to create your masterpiece will be supplied, including eggs, dyes, and tools.


About the Artist

Yevheniia Bazaliy is a passionate Ukrainian artist and social worker deeply rooted in Ukrainian and Lemko traditions. She is a renowned Pysanky artist specializing in the intricate art of Ukrainian egg decorating.

Yevheniia has received numerous accolades for her work, including a South Carolina Arts Commission Grant for her Pysanky workshops during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has exhibited her work in various shows, including the Pop Art Show at the Richland Library and the Soda City Live show, sharing the beauty and cultural significance of Pysanky with a broader audience.

Dedicated to preserving Ukrainian heritage, Yevheniia actively engages with the community through workshops, demonstrations, and collaborations with organizations like Lutheran Services, providing support and creative outlets for refugees.

 

 

This program is brought to the Santa Fe Public Library in collaboration with MOIFA’s Amidst Cries from the Rubble: Art of Loss and Resilience from Ukraine exhibition.
