Event Details
Join film producer Paul Lazarus for a Screening of the Western "Barbarosa" starring Willie Nelson and Gary Busey. Paul will share some anecdotes about the making of the film and answer audience questions.
The film appreciation series is a partnership between the Santa Fe Film Institute and the Santa Fe Public Library to increase enjoyment of movies through a greater understanding of the medium.
Presenter Biography
A graduate of Williams College and Yale Law Shcool, Paul practiced Intellectual Property Law for a short time in New York City before joining a talent agency. He represented Woody Allen and sold his first film, "Take the Money and Run."
Moving to Hollywood, he served as head of production for four studios and founded an educational film company for "Psychology Today" magazine.
He has produced seven feature films including "Westworld" and "Capricorn One." He has also written a number of screenplays and fiction and non-fiction books.
He served as Film Commissioner for New Mexico under Governor Toney Anaya before leaving New Mexico to chair the Film Department at the University of Miami.
He and his wife Judy are now fulltime residents of Santa Fe.
