Mr. Thomas H. Begay is one of the few remaining Navajo Code Talkers alive today. The Code Talkers were a critical part of the World War II efforts, with some recruited from New Mexico.  The Code Talkers created an unbreakable code that ensured victory at the Battle at Iwo Jima, and participated in every major Marine operation in the Pacific theater, giving the Marines a critical advantage throughout the war. 

Youth author Alysa Landry will discuss her children's book, "Thomas H. Begay and the Navajo Code Talkers" with honored guest, Mr. Thomas H. Begay. The book will be available for purchase at this event.  This program is for people of all ages.
