Program Description

Event Details

Dip into the world of mindfulness through an introductory study of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). A practice that helps us manage day-to-day stress, anxiety and overwhelm, this is an opportunity to begin learning to take each day as it comes, making space for your moment-by-moment wisdom as you leave the past in the past and the future to the future! You will learn some simple meditations (a core practice to retrain your brain to live in the present) and some basic techniques for learning to live non-judgmentally in the present, a place that supports balance, calm and well-being.

Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD in 1979, MBSR is an evidence-based practice initially developed to help those in chronic pain. The program was so successful that it was expanded to address the stress and anxiety of the emotional/mental pain caused by the everyday challenges of life and was found to be helpful for depression, hypertension, over-eating, smoking, insomnia and so on. We won’t solve all your problems in three weeks together but the skills of mindfulness are innate. Everyone can do this, given the determination to empower yourself through regular practice. Let’s open that door together.

Free to all. Ages 16 +
