Goddesses, Gods, and Monsters Costume Contest

GODDESSES, GODS, AND MONSTERS COSTUME CONTEST

 

Contest Categories: Children (Ages 0 - 6),Youth (Ages 7-12), Teen (Ages 13-17) and Adults (18+)

  • First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each age bracket for costumes that display the most outstanding accuracy, effort, and presentation.
  • Costumes must represent goddesses, gods, monsters, or other characters from ancient mythology. Costumes may be homemade or store bought.

How to Register

  • Register in person on Saturday, April 20, 12PM - 2PM at the Santa Fe Southside Teen Center. Event begins at 2:15PM.

 

All costume contest participants must register for the contest by 2PM.  Judging begins at 2:15PM. starting with Children (Ages 0 - 6),Youth (Ages 7-12), Teen (Ages 13-17) and Adults (18+). Prizes will be awarded after all age categories have presented their costumes.  Must be present to win.

 

Costume Contest Judging Criteria

Accuracy
What we look at: We will be checking how faithful your costume, hair, make-up and props are to the mythological character you’re dressing as.

Presentation
What we look at: The goal of the costume is to look as much like your character as possible, this includes body motions and phrases you say. Those who act in character will score higher than those who do not.

Effort
What we look at: We will look at how hard each person worked to complete their costume, find a or create a prop, style the appropriate wig or do their make-up.

Contest Guidelines

  • No construction materials will be provided. Please come prepared. 
  • Contestants must register for the contest by 1:45PM
  • All costumes must be family-friendly and appropriate for all ages.
  • No weapons, real or fake.
  • Swearing, sexual humor, flashing, extreme political or religious statements or other inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Contestants engaging in such behavior will be immediately disqualified and removed from the event.
  • Contestants will have 45 seconds to complete the “catwalk”. This is enough time to walk, strike a pose and walk back.
  • Awards will be presented shortly after . Prizes must be claimed on-site and winners must be present to win.
  • City of Santa Fe staff have the right to modify rules on the spot to protect attendees and the safety of the event.

Santa Fe Teen Center and AMP Concerts

 

Join us to kick off the 2024 Santa Fe Reads and begin the journey of engaging with Circe by Madeline Miller.

All are welcome to attend the free celebration and activities from 12PM - 4PM, taking place at both the Santa Fe Southside Teen Center and the Southside Library throughout the day.
